WELCOME TO THE
CHILDREN’S PROGRAM!
Serving Children Ages 4 - 12
Dear Children & Parents
Hello! We are Sandra and Tajali, the children's program coordinators
for the Creative Arts for Peace Camp 2007. If you were at the camp last
year, you probably remember us. If you're coming for the first time, we
can't wait to meet you!
We have been planning the children's activities for the camp, and thought
we'd let you know what's cooking!
This year we'll be focusing on the process of Creation, exploring how
it unfolds in nature and in our universe. We will explore how we were
created, how we are creating our world in every moment, how we can invent
and build all kinds of things. We will explore creation stories from many
places, and we'll weave the magic of dance, drama, music, and make believe.
We will make our own Creation stories!
We'll create a performance to share with the whole camp. Each day we'll
have playground time, healthy snacks and plenty of fun with friends.
In addition to the morning program, there will be an afternoon children’s
workshop, art studio, nature walks and free play with our Afternoon Angels
(counselors). Moms and dads can see the schedule, below.
Special Pre-Teen Interest Group: There are so many of you
ages 9 – 12, that we thought this year we would have a
special Pre-Teen group that will meet for part of each
morning to explore your special interests and try more
challenging projects.
Sounds like a lot of fun, doesn't it?!! It will be more fun if we see
you there. We hope you will join us! If you are coming, we’d love
to hear from you. Tell us a little bit about what you've been up to, and
if you have any surprises for us!
Creative Blessings to you!

* Children are with their parents at meals, open times,
most evening programs except Friday evening, and story circle. Parents
may choose to have their children be cared for by the afternoon counselors/angels,
or may attend workshops and art studio with their child(ren) in the afternoons.
Parents and other adults often collaborate to watch over their children.
CHILDREN YOUNGER THAN 4 YEARS
Children younger than four years may attend sessions with their parent(s),
or parents may come with them to the children’s programs, workshops,
or art studio. Some babysitting may be arranged with camp teens and young
adults. A parent-formed co-op may be formed as well. Spiritual parenting
sessions will facilitate this kind of mutual support. Also, adult members
of the camp community are encouraged to provide support to parents and
to connect with young children as “aunties and uncles”. Mealtime
“angels” will assist parents of young children and watch over
children in the playground area as their parents finish dinner.
It takes a village to raise a child,
and we try to enact that as our motto!
