Creative Arts for Peace Camp
Song of Creation!

July 9 - 15, 2007
at Claymont near Charles Town, West Virginia

"Come join the dance of life..."
— Sam Lewis

Welcome, Campers!

Dear Campers,

Welcome to the Creative Arts for Peace Camp 2007! Here are some important details to review. Feel free to contact us with questions and ideas.

First, please tell us about yourself by filling out our pre-camp survey on our website at http://www.peacedance.org/files/
Pre-CampSurveyCAP2007.pdf

Claymont maintains its space beautifully. We will do our part
by washing our own individual dishes after each meal and
generally picking up after ourselves. For those staying in the
Mansion or Great Barn, Claymont provides bed linens and
towels, and we will make and strip our own beds.

In addition, each camp participant will contribute some form
of creative service to the camp, such as participating in
children’s programming, assisting in the art studio, helping
beautify the space, setting up or breaking down the camp,
offering a skill or workshop, bookstore sales, etc. Your camp
survey will take your preferences, or let us know on your
registration form.

Due to allergic reactions on the part of some individuals,
please refrain from wearing heavily perfumed products.

We ask that participants refrain from video or audio taping
during sessions.

MENU

The meals at Claymont are accurately described as gourmet vegetarian (people do rave!) with some added animal protein for those who need it. We have added more protein and choices and more children’s favorites this year. For those of you with special dietary needs, and for those of you with children who are especially particular, you are welcome to bring and prepare some extra food in the "bakery" area of the Great Barn kitchen. There will be a separate refrigerator/stove there. Please label things to minimize confusion. Claymont just asks that you clean up completely in a timely way. Here's a general sketch of the menu:

Breakfast - eggs, oatmeal, some granola, nuts and dried fruit, yogurt, fresh fruit, beverages

Lunch - salads, vegetarian soups, some cold cuts or chicken salad, grain source

Dinner - vegetarian entrée, fish or poultry entrée at least 3 evening meals, barbequed tempeh, lasagna, tofu. Kid-friendly options include pizza, Mexican make-your-own taco/burrito, and pasta with various sauces.

Dessert - Dessert is pretty much served at every dinner! On Monday and Saturday, we will have our dessert later at our reception/party at 9:00 pm.

For the children: A snack of juice and crackers/granola bars will be provided in the morning and afternoon. If your child is particular, please bring the fill-ins they will need to be satisfied! Also, bringing a stash of ziplocs is a good idea to tote snacks around for those hungry moments.

The all-camp snack table will always be open and will include water/tea/coffee, a bowl of fruit, bread or crackers and either trail mix/nuts or peanut butter for hungry munchers.

We look forward to being together! Travel well and safely!
